Gossett signs to play college football at Carson-Newman after stellar career at WH

Matthew Gossett, the standout kicker for the White House Blue Devils, signed to play college football at Carson-Newman College, where he will join lineman teammate Blaine Boone this fall. Gossett graduated WHHS with both academic (3.6 GPA) and athletic honors and ended his high school career atop the record books for consecutive PAT kicks made (50), single-season PAT kicks made (56), single-season kickoff average (55.4 yards) and career kickoff average (54.6 yards). In total, he kicked off for 7,240 yards and 51 touchbacks in his career while making six field goals and 57 extra points. He also punted 38 times for a 37.1-yard average. Payne brothers turn outstanding career into college signing with Ohio Northern Univ.

DeMarqus and DeMarrius Payne will play football at the next level after graduating from White House High School and signing with Ohio Northern University in Ada, OH. DeMarqus rushed for 2,668 yards in his career as a tailback and scored 236 points, and was second in school history with 12 interceptions. DeMarrius as a split end caught 41 passes for 829 yards and nine TD and four interceptions on defense. The two cornerbacks combined for 57 passes broken up and 952 yards in returns on defense and special teams. They are pictured with their mother, Delonda Payne, and White House Coach Jeff Porter.
