Senior offensive tackle Blaine Boone has joined a long list of White
House High School football players to be nominated for the Mr. Football awards in the state of Tennessee.
Boone received a nomination as a finalist for the Class 3-A Lineman of the Year and the
winner will be announced at a banquet honoring the state’s top 45 football players on Monday, Dec. 1st at
the Embassy Suites in Murfreesboro. The Tennessee Titans Mr. Football Awards will be directed
by Titans Radio play-by-play announcer Mike Keith.
Boone is the ninth finalist to be nominated from White House in the history of the award, joining
backs Ricky Ladd (twice), Phillip Taylor, Brian Jones and Jonathan Finch, and linemen Wes Langford, Kevin Harris, and Rogers
Gaines. Ladd is the only one to win in 2005 as the Class 3-A Back of the Year.
“We have been blessed to have strong offensive linemen at
White House and Blaine has carried on a respected tradition at our school,” said White House head
coach Jeff Porter. “He is an outstanding person and I had the privilege of attending FCA Camp with him in Black Mountain, NC, in 2007. Blaine has a tremendous caring heart for other people
and is a great representative of White House High School.”
Boone has started every game for White House since his sophomore season and
has also been selected to play in the TACA East-West All-Star Game in December. He has graded out over 80 percent blocking
and a part of an offensive line that has allowed just nine sacks in 124 passing attempts this season. He has also blocked
for a 1,000-yard rusher in DeMarqus Payne.
Last December, Boone received preseason attention as a part of the Elite Scouting Combine. He is
a member of the football and track team at WHHS and serves in many other organizations for the school including FCA and FFA.
“I think most of all, Blaine would say this nomination is a reflection of his team and his fellow players,” Porter said. “This
is an honor for he and all of his teammates and recognition for their hard work this season.”
White House plays Friday night in Class 3-A
quarterfinals against Station Camp and Boone is expected to make his 37th consecutive start at right tackle.

THE TENNESSEE TITANS MR. FOOTBALL AWARDS TO BE PRESENTED ON MONDAY, DECEMBER 1, 2008 Embassy Suites Hotel & Conference Center, Murfreesboro 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM CTNashville,
Tennessee, November 11, 2008 - The Tennessee Titans Mr. Football Awards will be presented to the top 14 backs and
linemen in seven classifications of the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association on Monday, December 1, 2008, at the
Embassy Suites Hotel & Conference Center in Murfreesboro. For the seventh consecutive year, the top kicker in the state
will be recognized with a Mr. Football Award. There are three finalists in this category, regardless of their school's
classification. The awards are sponsored by Nancy and Bud Adams through their donation from the Tennessee Titans Foundation. "High school football in Tennessee enjoys a great tradition throughout the state and we are pleased to join
the TSSAA for the second consecutive year in saluting these fine young men at the Tennessee Titans Mr. Football Awards,"
said Adams. "The young men that are recognized with these awards are truly the best of the best! They are selected not
only for their football skills, but for their strong character and academic achievements and we're honored to join the
TSSAA in saluting them!" A committee of statewide sports writers selected winners based on performance
in the 2008 regular season. Academics and character were also taken into consideration. High school head coaches and members
of the media nominated the finalists. "We're very thankful to Mr. and Mrs. Adams and the Tennessee
Titans for their continued commitment to high school athletics," stated Ronnie Carter, Executive Director of the TSSAA. "We are obviously excited and appreciative about being involved with the Tennessee Titans. They have helped
make the recognition of the 45 student-athletes, their families, and schools possible," added Carter. This
is the twenty-fourth year that the Mr. Football Awards have been presented to Tennessee's best high school football players.
Plaques will be presented to 30 other finalists. Approximately 700 people, including the honorees, their
families, coaches, school administrators and members of the media from all parts of the state, are expected to attend the
2008 luncheon. Mike Keith, play-by-play voice of the Tennessee Titans, will emcee the awards presentations.
The awards will be carried by the Tennessee High School Sports Network (THSSN).
